NS Glyphosate Approvals 2025
Tim Halman, Minister of Environment and Climate Change in Nova Scotia has announced that the properties approved for glyphosate application would not be released to the public.

Minister Tim Halman announcing theTim Houston PC-government’s intension of protecting 20% of Nova Scotia land and waters by 2030. In October 2023, the Canada-Nova Scotia agreement set an interim target of 15% by 2026.
Why is this a problem?
Glyphosate is an herbicide that has been connected to cancer, gut-related diseases, biodiversity loss, decreased resilience of natural forests and now, wildfires. Not knowing where this chemical will be sprayed is concerning for those living close to and /or farming organically close to the spray areas. For the past several years, folks have been camping out in spray-approved woodlots, stopping the aerial application of this herbicide. Now, with the forests so dry and closed to everyone except the forest industry, protection of Nova Scotia’s woodlands, waterways and community health has become even more complicated than in former years.
No responsible government would allow chemical spray programs to go ahead under such extreme dry conditions and without public knowledge or consent.
The approvals as listed on the government website look like this. There are no “Property Identification Numbers” (PID) included.
