Shoulder to Shoulder Rally March 3, 2026


🚨It is time to stand Shoulder-to-Shoulder at a Rally once again, this time, at Province House.🚨
If you live, work, play and/or pray in Nova Scotia/Mi’kma’ki, you are invited to join the next “We Are All Treaty People” Rally on March 3 @ 12pm in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, at the Nova Scotia Legislature building.
The purpose of this rally is to stand Shoulder-To-Shoulder in solidarity with land defenders and water protectors at Tqamuoweye’katick/Hunter’s Mountain and ALL other resistance movements in Nova Scotia/Mi’kma’ki.
This time, we are taking it to Tim Houston’s Office – the Legislture building, during the spring sitting. Together, let’s tell Tim Houston to STOP selling our futures, and demand that he respect the Treaties, our democratic rights, and our community voices!

For people attending from ANNAPOLIS COUNTY you can reserve a seat on the SOOF x NS Forests Forever Bus and save yourself the drive! We have 6 pickup locations to choose from: Bear River, Annapolis Royal, Bridgetown, Middleton, as well as Berwick and Wolfville.
Seats are limited, and require a $5 reservation fee.

Old Time Music & Country Dance

Details: Get your dancing shoes on and two-step your way down to the Round Hill Community Hall for an old-time dance in support of SOOF! Featuring live music by the North Mountain Islanders. Instruction for 2 steps, waltzes, maybe a contra or two, polkas by request.

Residents are invited to join municipal staff for a presentation on the project and an opportunity to ask questions. Feedback from the meeting will be compiled into a What We Heard Report and will be used to help inform the project design. There will be a follow-up meeting in fall 2024 to present the final design and to discuss design considerations as a result of the first public information meeting.

About: Come join us for lunch and a chat about old forests and citizen science.
There is a special meeting of Cumberland County Council in the Council Chambers in Upper Nappan for the second reading of the Development Agreement between Higgins Mountain Partnership Limited and the Municipality of Cumberland County.
The meeting is scheduled at 4 pm on January 31 ( Wednesday). The public is welcome to attend this meeting but we have been advised there will be no public presentations.

About: SOOF is hosting a Public Meeting to talk about potential sites in Annapolis County that have been identified for clearcutting and spraying and our ongoing work to protect two wilderness areas on the South Mountain.
Please note that this is not a SOOF Soup Sunday event and there will not be a free lunch served at the Public Meeting.

It’s a free event – but we do ask that you register in advance so we know how much soup to make!
