Liverpool Bay open pen fish farms
Kelly Cove Salmon (Cooke Aquaculture) has applied to expand net pen salmon farm operations in Liverpool Bay. Specifically, Beach Meadows, Mersey Point and Brooklyn are named on the application. The expansion will total up to 60 pens, which translates to upwards of 1.98M salmon. The “Protect Liverpool Bay Association” will be asking the provincial Aquaculture Review Board (ARB) to reject this application. The ARB is appointed by the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture to review such applications. The process generally leaves little room for public input.

What is so wrong with fish farms?
An increasing amount of fish on the market is sourced from large-scale industrial fish farms that rely on a toxic cocktail of pharmaceutical drugs, pesticides and even genetically engineered crops such as soya.
