Farming
Some of the greatest disasters in human history come from the abuse of soil integrity….
“We only have 3 days of food left if we were to get cut off from the rest of the world” WT? Yep, this is what I learned over 20 years ago after Hurricane Juan hit Nova Scotia and we were without power for 9 days. When I asked the question on food security in Nova Scotia, that was the answer. Believe it or not the answer is still the same. We have done nothing to rebuild Nova Scotia farming back to where it used to be, to be able to feed all Nova Scotians.
(Lil MacPherson)
The number of farms in Nova Scotia have decreased from 23,515 in 1950 to 2,741 in 2021.
How did this happen??
Across Canada, industrialized agriculture has caused an unprecedented emptying of our rural areas as farmers are driven from the land to make way for larger operations. Economy of scale has become the driving force of farming. “Quality and nutrition have been replaced by “Quantity and Shipping”
Nova Scotia is the perfect size to change our story and show the world that we can be the most food secure province in Canada!
So, join us and jump on-board. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get dirty! (you know dig in the dirt!)

Kiss the Ground
Narrated and featuring Woody Harrelson, Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that reveals the first viable solution to the climate crisis.
Kiss the Ground reveals that, by regenerating the world’s soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilise Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. Using compelling graphics and visuals, along with striking NASA and NOAA footage, the film artfully illustrates how, by drawing down atmospheric carbon, soil is the missing piece of the climate puzzle.
This movie is positioned to catalyse a movement to accomplish the impossible- to solve humanity’s greatest challenge, to balance the climate and restore our species future.
Kiss the Ground is available free on Netflix.
